A Great Ruling
This week, the Washington Supreme Court made a great ruling in favor of non-biological parents, deciding that they are "de-facto" parents even without adoption papers in hand. This is wonderful news and makes me feel greatly relieved.
I'm fairly confident now that a known donor contract would stand up in court in this state and that my rights as a parent will be upheld before we are able to complete the adoption (usually takes about 6 months). So, I'm now more comfortable with using a known donor without going through a Dr. - which we really hoped to avoid.
Yay!
