Working Mommy
I'm halfway through my long stretch of work and tired tonight. Shift work has its good side and bad side. The good side is that I get to be at home with my sweet baby boy more than if I worked Monday through Friday. The downside is the sheer exhaustion I feel and that when I work I basically don't see Finn for 48+ hours.
Finn misses mommy. Mommy misses Finn.
I am so proud to be a working mom. I am proud to show my son a woman working and taking care of her family. And having such good reasons to work, my boy and my wife, make being at work a little bit better.
Sometimes.
This stretch has been hard. I'm missing Finn especially badly. As he's gotten older me being away has become harder and harder. All three of us are happiest when we're all together. After my long break - five glorious days of lazy breakfasts and waking up all snuggled and reading stories and taking walks - we miss each other.
So yeah, I'm a working mommy, and yeah, I'm okay with it. But there's not enough money you could offer me to spend one more minute than I have to away from my family.

Pretty much my thoughts exactly.
Ya, me as well. I work plus go to school. And while it is in the best interest of my family... it doesn't make the time away go any faster.
I just wanted to say that I have loved reading your blog. Yep, I went back and read the wholllle thing!
I'm over at MDC on the 3+ mos until TTC with M. -- but I just joined it yesterday and was surprised to find her there. (I hadn't yet gotten to the part of your blog about DtD being away.) Keeping my fingers crossed that he finds his way home early or at least on time!
Thanks for keeping us all in the loop through all of this!
HEY!!! MISS YOU!!! :o)) Hope all is well
