Dear Anonymous...

Whatever you do, please...PLEASE...do not pray for me. I don't mind prayers but I don't really want yours.

M. and I are not going to delete The Comment.

People are certainly entitled to their own opinions. I am very grounded in who I am and what I do with my life. The only motivation I can imagine in leaving a comment like Anonymous chose to is a midguided belief that somehow that one person's voice is going to influence me to turn my back on the wonderful life we have made for ourselves. How egocentric and self-inflated can a person get?

So don't pray for me. Your prayers are prayers of self-righteousness, just another way to elevate yourself and reinforce your self created delusion that you are somehow better than me.

Pray that we'll stop killing innocent people in Iraq. Pray that we will bring soldiers home to their families. Pray that we will have healthcare for all. Pray that we will have no more mentally ill on our streets. Pray that children will always feel safe and loved and will never have to worry about being physically, sexually or emotionally hurt. Pray for the end of genocide, for world peace, for no more violence...

Do NOT pray for me.

I want none of it.

Amen!

Spoken as a man married to another man for a decade and sharing his life for almost years more than that. And as a father of 3 children. And, so help me God, as a Catholic.

I wish you two (plus the little one) much happiness!

Two things: One: CONGRATULATIONS on your beautiful pregnancy and this spectacular journey the two of you are on together :) May it be one of the most wondrous things you've ever experienced!!

Two: As for anonymous...everyone has their opinions. It would just be nice if some kept it to themselves. For what it's worth, I was raised by two women and...gasp...I see psychics from time to time (am friends with some and I believe we all have psychic abilities ourselves). I am happy, well-adjusted, productive and spiritual. Somehow that doesn't sound, how shall I say...sinner-ish to me ;) The two of you will be fabulous parents. Know there is infinite love and support out there for the three of you :)

Oh AND Congrats on the movement too!! WOOHOO!!

Dear Anonymous:

It's not very Christian like to judge others.

Love,
God.

OK - I just read "the comment."

Ya' know what I've always liked about the bible and those who quote it? It's complete and total factual nature. I'm almost certain that at least three people in the history of human-kind have verified the entire thing and have found that, indeed, first there was light (or darkness or whatever).

I'm also very fond of the fact that there are no "seers" or "soothsayers" among those who espouse bible teachings. Nope - they are popes and prophets and preachers - obviously different from a "soothsayer" in that they are getting information directly from god and not from an unsubstantiated source. Whew! Disaster averted there!

Hmmm... Isn't the "you're going to hell" sentiment somewhat of a prediction? "...[E]very knee will bow and every tongue will confess..." sounds a LOT like interpretation of an omen to me! But, this must be different than "regular" omen interpretation because it comes from the biggest, fattest, soothsayers handbook of all time.

OK - the only thing that I have truly learned from the biggest, fattest, soothsayers handbook of all time is not to judge others unless you expect to be judged. Now, that's a prophecy that I can accept. (Does that make me a wizard or witch? How exciting.)

Goober

hmmm, I wonder what good ole anonymous there would say to me: a lesbian, partnered and raising a child, trying for another. Oh, yeah, and a psychic too! Not to mention, I can spell correctly! This person probably thinks that spelling is equivalent to making a spell...

Ok, that was mean. I'm sorry that someone came over here (or is it hear?) and spewed their garbage. I can't wait for the day when someone quoting the passages against homosexuality from the Bible are viewed with as much tolerance as people who quote the passages about slavery, or the passages that are twisted to justify racism... it's coming, it's just coming waaaaaaay slow.

Yay for feeling movement!

Nice response. :) I love how she says her sister was gay and then became a Christian. Yeah, because there are no gay Christians in the world... *rolling eyes*

I never know what to respond to people like that. I certainly wouldn't want those kinds of prayers headed my way either.
