Finn the Foodie
Our boy loves food. I mean LOVES FOOD. He loves to watch us eat. He loves to watch us cook. He loves to eat the food himself. He'll stare at us while we're eating and air chew. He grabs whatever we're putting in our mouths.
So far he's eaten pear, apple, nectarine, whole grain cereal, banana, advocado, yogurt, ice cream, rice, honeydew, blueberries, rice pasta, chicken, potato and pumpkin. Least fave to far is advocado and faves are nectarine and pumpkin.
Tonight I made rice pasta with chicken, and roasted potatoes. Finn had it all right along with us, and he loved every single bite.
We do finger foods so feeding is a very messy experience with a lot of goo ending up on the floor. We got this amazing contraption with the charming name of Piggy Platter. It's a clear, hard placemat that sets on the table. Love, love, LOVE IT. He can mess it all up and we just wash it clean.
Table foods are a lot of work but also a lot of fun. I love watching Finn explore every aspect of his food, from the taste to how it feels mushed up in his fingers. I hope this is the beginning of a long, healthy love affair with foods.

That's where dogs rule because they will clean up the floor for you. Hehehe. Glad he's enjoying foods. Riley has started to enjoy solids too. We haven't tried proteins yet but will soon. We're going to start with lentils and tofu (cut up) and then move on to chicken. No red meat for her. And we have also been giving her some solid pieces which she's been doing well with like pasta. I like being able to give her chunks of stuff better than purees.
I'm so glad you and Finn are having so much fun with food. Natalie still hasn't cottoned on to avocado, much to my bafflement.
Tell me more about the Piggy Platter - it looks great and I wish we'd found it a year ago! Does it suction or adhere to the table in any way? We could still use something like that now but if she could pick it up it would be a disaster.
The fabulous piggy platter does not have suction on the bottom. It has a non-slip gasket and does stay put but you could pic it up if you got finger underneath the edge. Finn hasn't tried to pry it up YET. I think it being clear kind of helps.
It's approx $30 and I wonder if you could sell it if it didn't work.
